AS the district prepares to celebrate its 150 year history the good news is we no longer have to try to pronounce or even spell Sesquicentennial for the entire year.

The celebrations will now be simply known as B150.

A new logo and name for Beaudesert’s big birthday was officially announced on the weekend at the launch of B150 which was fittingly held at the local history museum.

The celebration organising committee has already been hard at work preparing for two major events.

The first is a family fun day to be run in conjunction with Beaudesert High’s 60th anniversary and the second is a gala ball.

Committee member, Mark Plunkett, said the town is continuing to mature and grow since the first settlers arrived here in the early 1800’s.

“We need to celebrate the past and to remember how this town developed and grew,” he said.

“Those of us who were here for the Beaudesert 100th celebrations remember that time fondly and it’s hoped in another 50 years people may say how much they enjoyed the 150 year events.”

The B150 committee has also aligned its celebrations with other events already on the calendar.

These include the Tamrookim “dancing through the ages” Ball, the 72nd Beaudesert Reunion and the BADCAP “calendar of artistic events”.

The B150 committee is still looking for businesses to help sponsor the events and anyone interested should contact them through the B150 Facebook page.
