Dr John Britten, a familiar and much-loved face at Beaudesert Hospital, was farewelled by staff recently to start his new life in retirement.
Former Beaudesert Hospital Facility Manager and close friend Jacquie Smith said John would be thought of with such fond memories, not only as a great clinician but as a leader too.
“John is a wonderful human who plays the ukulele and guitar, enjoys sharing a poem or a story about being a medic doing a roadside retrieval and using what he had around him to save lives,” she said.
“He’s a special guy and one of those people that blesses your life in a way that is everlasting.”
Jacquie said John personally meant a lot to her.
“I hold fond memories of our time working closely together and the friendship that has grown,” she said.
“Many people never get the chance to experience such partnership in their work life but just some of the highlights we achieved included blues skies multidisc rural education, being the first digital rural hospital and setting up consumer groups and community events.”
