BEAUDESERT locals are helping support ill and premature babies after raising about $7000 for Mater Little Miracles.

Community spirit was strong at the High Tea and Fashion Parade for Mater Little Miracles organised by local volunteers at Bromelton House.

About 110 people attended the July 13 event and there were about a dozen volunteers pitching in with kitchen duties, raffles, serving food, directing parking and cleaning up.

One of those volunteers, Ellen Logan, said it was a community effort to be proud of and thanked everyone for their contributions.

“We were very fortunate to have locals who were more than happy to help,” she said.

“People are happy they’re able to give back to the community, and we’ve got a lovely community in Beaudesert. If it’s a successful day, which it was, it’s the icing on the cake.”

Guests dined on an abundance of home cooked high tea treats prepared by volunteers and bought up big on raffled tickets to win donated prizes.

They also viewed the latest fashions in a parade organised by locals Chris Grimmett and Erica Bates.

Eight local volunteers modelled outfits from Chris’s shop, Kalico Country, Erica’s upcycled fashion label, Just Be It.
