Carnival brings schools together

The 68th annual Christmas Creek Valley Athletics Carnival saw students from Darlington, Hillview, Tamrookum and Rathdowney gather.

The prestigious Christmas Creek Cup (awarded to the school with highest average number of points) went to Darlington State School, with the Dennis Shield (awarded to the school with the highest number of points) secured by Tamrookum State School.

As most improved school, Hillview State School took home the Harry Watkins Memorial Trophy.

The Thorpe Family Spirit Award (awarded to the student who demonstrates outstanding sportsmanship) went to Billie Parnell from Rathdowney.

The Greg Bischoff Adult Relay Trophy was won by Tamrookum and the Arthy Cup was taken by Tamrookum.

The war cry and march past were a highlight of the day, with the Councillors Award Trophy for War Cry won by Darlington and the Deanne Family Trophy for Marching going to Hillview.

Trophies from the cross country held earlier in the year were also presented:

  • The Lois Jackson Cross Country Trophy (Awarded to the school with the highest number of points)- Rathdowney
  • The Mick and Jenny Young Trophy (Awarded to the school with the highest average number of points)- Hillview
