Why so blue?

For the past four years a dedicated band of volunteers has turned Beaudesert blue in September to raise awareness of prostate cancer.

Initially, Ellen Logan was inspired by Turning Canungra Pink and contacted one of the organisers to ensure Beauy Blue didn’t step on any toes.

What began as a Cancer Council Queensland Branch initiative is now cross promoted with the Prostate Cancer Foundation.

Cancer Council Queensland Beaudesert Branch President, Julie Ferguson, lost her husband to prostate cancer and said as soon as she heard Ellen’s idea she was on board.

The bunting is sewn by Branch members and washed and ironed at the end of the month, ready for next year.

The Christmas Yarnbombing group has also gotten on board, making the bollard covers that sit outside Scenic Rim Regional Council.

“We are a small group so we are very grateful for the help,” said Julie.

The bottom line?  Guys, get your prostate checked!
