What Susie Saw: Marigolds

Marigolds
Marigolds

The flowers are looking beautiful at Beaudesert cenotaph.

Marigolds in shades of burnt orange and yellow brighten the garden beds around the war memorial like a symbol of life and optimism. Marigolds are also said to symbolise mourning – quite appropriate for the place of sombre reflection where they grow. There is something special and deeply appreciated about the way local council workers gently tend to the flowers around our war memorial, particularly in the lead-up to significant times of remembrance.

Lest we forget.
