Properties aplenty, but rentals still scare
THE time could be right to buy in the Scenic Rim as the property market begins to open up presenting more options for investors.
While properties over the past year have been scarce to find as of late May there were more than 500 opportunities listed for sale.
On the realestate.com website a total of 308 homes were available on small and large blocks and there was even a multi-million dollar horse stud looking for a new owner.
Element Stud at Running Creek offers an ultra-modern six bedroom home as well as a four bedroom manager’s property all located on 159 acres of prime land spread across two titles.
While home hunters have plenty to choose from those looking to downsize into a villa or unit have little to choose from with just seven to consider.
Renters are still scrambling to find a property and as of late May there were only 40 on the market.
Real estate agents continue to move the rentals quickly and the advice for those looking for properties is to provide their details as early as possible rather than wait until a property is listed.
Sales agent with The Professionals at Tamborine Mountain, Linda Hogan, said there were definitely more properties available at the moment giving buyers a much wider choice.
“We seem to be going from a seller’s market to a buyer’s market,” she said.
“Some properties are still selling after their first Open House, but now it’s normally taking from six to eight weeks which is longer than what it was previously.”
