Beaudesert Quilters joined with the Zonta Club of Beaudesert to make and send breast care cushions for women being treated for breast cancer.
The annual workshop to make the cushions saw 15 women create 145 cushions that will be distributed through Mater Public and Private Hospital, PA Private Hospital and Sunnybank Private Hospital.
Zonta purchases the materials and their volunteers cut out the cushion patterns, then at the sewing workshop it is all hands on deck as Zonta members fill cushions as fast as the Beaudesert Quilters can sew them.
Coordinator of the workshop, Zonta member Margaret Brennan, said she has received lovely responses about the cushions, including from one lady who had a mastectomy.
“She was in a lot of pain and so sore. When she was given a cushion she said it made a huge difference.”
Each cushion has a note put inside the packaging saying ‘A gift from Zonta with love. Our thoughts are with you, and we wish you a speedy recovery’.
