LOCALS should be able to have their say early next year on the plan which underpins ‘trunk’ infrastructure to support growth, like transport, stormwater, parks and land for community facilities.
In response to an enquiry from the Beaudesert Bulletin about the Scenic Rim’s Local Government Infrastructure Plan (LGIP), Council provided the following statement from Director Infrastructure Services James Ruprai.
“Council has commenced the Local Government Infrastructure Plan (LGIP) amendment process. Public consultation is expected to take place in the first quarter of 2026,” the statement said.
“This will ensure that the plan accurately reflects future infrastructure needs. Relevant government agencies have been made aware that Council has initiated the LGIP amendment and of the timings involved.”
On June 3, 2025, in response to an enquiry, Council told the Bulletin Council’s LGIP update was anticipated to be completed in the ‘later part of this year’ for public consultation.
The Bulletin understands Council last adopted an LGIP on May 28, 2018, seven years ago.
In Queensland, LGIPs are legally required to be reviewed and updated by local governments at least every five years under the Planning Act 2016.
