Do you have a favourite picture or painting?
Perhaps it depends what you are thinking about when you recall a favourite image. For example, recalling family celebrations such as weddings, children or special events, will no doubt remind you of a particular photo you have.
After all there is a saying “A picture is worth a thousand words” and a single image can tell a story much more clearly than a long text.
I personally have hundreds of photos tucked away in boxes and every time I look at these my mind is drawn back to each occasion.
My memories are strengthened and I know each photo tells a special story.
When thinking about Christianity there are several images which immediately come to mind. Baby Jesus in a Manger, Leonardo da Vinci’s painting of the Last Supper, Jesus’ crucifixion on the cross, along with the image of St Luke in the stained-glass window at St Luke’s.
These images depict so much. The whole story relating to Christ comes to mind with each picture.
As we near our celebration of 90 years since our church was built in Canungra, perhaps you have some photos or memorabilia that tells a story for you or your family.
Maybe images of a wedding or baptism, or a special function at St Luke’s is stored in a box at your home.
We would love to hear from people who would be willing to lend any such items for display over the celebration of 90 years of St Luke’s.

It will be a very special weekend including an Art Competition, Memorabilia Display and Devonshire Tea on Saturday October 17, followed by a special service and celebration at 10am on St Luke’s Day – Sunday October 18.
The excitement is certainly building for this big event.
