The Beaudesert and District Tennis Association proudly hosted the Charity Shield Event “One Wish at A Time” on Saturday April 27, 2024 in support of Make-A-Wish Australia.
Teams of four from local businesses and the community were invited for a fun night of Fast 4 Tennis; the entry cost of $100 per team was donated in full to the Make A Wish Foundation.
The theme for the night was blue, red, yellow, and green. Many teams went full out with their costumes, a sight that had everyone laughing.
Club President Darren Thorpe said it was the fourth Charity Shield Event the Club has held; the first three raised funds for Breast Cancer, Men’s Health and Domestic Violence Connect.
“This is now a twice-yearly event that gives our Club the opportunity to bring the community together for an amazing cause and to promote the fun of tennis,” he says.
“This year’s charity hits home for our Club as children are our future and play an integral role to our sporting community.”
A raffle was held to help raise funds, and there were many prizes to be won.
In total, an impressive $4,770 was raised.
“A fantastic night was had by all and we are extremely humbled and thankful to everyone who contributed towards making this our biggest fundraiser yet,” Club Secretary Lauren Griffin said.
