Beaudesert locals commuting home from the big smoke may have some relief, with new southbound lanes opening up on the Mt Lindesay Highway at Munruben.

In what the Department of Transport and Main Roads is claiming as a major milestone, motorists can now travel on the new southbound lanes and Norris Creek bridge.

The project will widen the highway from two to four lanes, build new northbound and southbound bridges across Norris Creek, install safety upgrades and improve fauna connectivity and protection.

The $75 million Mount Lindesay Highway Stoney Camp Road to Chambers Flat Road upgrade is funded 50:50 between the Australian and Queensland governments and is scheduled for completion in late 2022.
