MUNUNJALI NAIDOC Day 2024 attracted strong crowds and created positive connections.

“There were a fair few people there I hadn’t seen before. It was only our second NAIDOC back since Covid, which brought a lot of new stallholders, new people to the community,” said event organiser Robbie Antcliff.

“Our extended families travelled to be part of it, so it really has continued to grow.”

Robbie said Mununjali NAIDOC Day helped involved and inspire the community.

“This year we had McAuley College come along and Amaze Early Education, so getting them involved was really good,” she said.

“Among most stallholders there was a First Nations person, so for example with Queensland Parks there was Elly Blow. It’s good for the community and kids to see there are opportunities out there for them to take up.

“Some kids think, ‘oh I can’t achieve those kinds of things’ but when they go to NAIDOC Day and see there are pathways and opportunities it’s a good thing for them to be a part of.”
