IF YOU want to shine a spotlight on your country music talent there is only one place to do it and that’s at the annual Tamworth Country Music Awards.
Beaudesert’s Kylie Moss and the local band she plays with, Griffin County, have been working hard for the past five years trying to build their brand.
They once again packed up their gear and headed to the recently concluded Tamworth festival and while they didn’t come away with any trophies they enjoyed plenty of attention.
Kylie’s lyrics and the band’s arrangements produced four songs which were entered in the highly competitive “Songwriter’s Awards”.
Fighting against more than 500 entries the four songs all landed in the top 10 excelling in Country Rock and New Songwriter categories.
“It was disappointing not to get a win with all the songs in the top 10, but just to have them listed amongst the best was great,” Kylie said.
“We got to play them when we performed at the Oasis Hotel in Tamworth to a packed house and they were all well received and are now part of our regular set.”
Griffin Country plans to release one of the songs, ‘Out Where The Dreams Are Free’ next March and all four new songs will be part of an EP release in April.
Other members of Griffin County, which was formed more than five years ago, are Jeff Alcorn, Jim Trammell and Kylie’s husband, Tony Griffin.
