Beaudesert residents were surprised to wake up to a hot air balloon hovering just above homes in Boundary Street this morning.

Unable to maintain or gain height, the balloon pilot picked McAuley College grounds to land on, bringing in his passengers safely.

The landing took place at 7.30am, prior to students arriving for school.

McAuley College Principal, Jason Pacey said they were low on fuel and needed to come down.

“He was very apologetic but apparently this is not the first time he has landed at McAuley, having previously landed here back in 2018,” said Jason.

The support vehicle driven by Jake arrived very quickly and all of the tourists were in good spirit and got a ride back with Jake.”
