Driving force behind the push for a Beaudesert Police Citizens Youth Club (PCYC), YACC President John Powell is urging residents to participate in Scenic Rim Regional Council’s community consultation.

Consultation on the Draft Land Management Plan for Dick Westerman Park, which has been earmarked as a suitable site for the proposed Beaudesert Police Citizens Youth Club (PCYC),  opened on 29 September and will close on Friday 27 October 2023.

Powell encouraged anyone with feedback, positive or negative to have their say.

“We have been waiting for some time for this and we are thrilled it is happening now,” he said.

“I would hope that the feedback for the PCYC would be primarily positive because the need for a PCYC in Beaudesert is undeniable.”

“We need as many people as possible to support this and to support us using what is a vacant block of land to build a PCYC which will enhance the whole community.”

As trustee of the land, Council’s role is to prepare, submit the Land Management Plan and facilitate a lease agreement between Council and PCYC Queensland for the establishment of a PCYC facility within Beaudesert township.

PCYC Queensland’s role is to design, construct and operate the PCYC facility, including sourcing external funding.

A survey can be completed online at letstalk.scenicrim.qld.gov.au.

Written submissions should be sent to mail@scenicrim.qld.gov.au, or by post to PO Box 25, Beaudesert QLD 4285 or can be dropped off at one of Council’s Administration or Customer Contact Centres.

Submissions should be made attention ‘Property Management Team’.

Once all feedback has been considered by Council, the Land Management Plan will be submitted to the Department of Resources for assessment and request for approval.
