Beaudesert authors have gained a boost to their confidence and a fun creative outlet through a newly launched Scenic Rim Youth Anthology.

The anthology, spread across two volumes, features work from McAuley College students, members of Beaudesert Library Whimsical Words and young authors on Tamborine Mountain and in Harrisville.

Beaudesert Library staff joined with the youth involved, their families and friends to launch the anthology at The Centre recently with guest Isobelle Carmody, author of The Obernewtyn Chronicles.

Author Oliver Gray, 18, who designed the cover art and wrote a story for Volume 2 of the anthology and spoke on a panel at the launch, said it was a confidence-boosting experience.

“I’m trying to put myself out there more with my creative work and be more comfortable with publishing my art, and this was a fun experience which got me out of the house when I wasn’t at work,” said Oliver.
