Submissions for a proposed mobile phone base station on the corner of Fields Road and Gould Hill Road at Gleneagle will close on May 1.

The proposal, which includes an already-approved 40-metre monopole, set tongues wagging when some locals spotted a small proposal sign on the property and posted it to Facebook.

Myleigh Taylor, who lives near the site, found out about it via Facebook and got in touch with the Beaudesert Bulletin because she was concerned that it was the first that she and other nearby residents had known about it.

Other locals the Bulletin spoke with who live within 300 metres of the site received letters in their letterboxes notifying them of an approved 40-metre monopole.

According to information published on the Radio Frequency National Site Archive (RFNSA) under reference number 4285036, the site is required to provide Vodafone network capacity and 5G technology in the local area.

The site is on Lot 1 Gould Hill Road and an application by Stilmark Holdings Pty Ltd for the 40-metre monopole was approved under Council Planning Permit MCU22/016 in 2022.

Other than the approved 40-metre monopole, it is proposed to install:

  • Six panel antennas (not more than 2.8m long), including 4G/5G
  • One 600mm parabolic dish antenna
  • 12 Remote Radio Units (RRUs)
  • An equipment shelter (2150mm x 800mm x 1800mm) on the approved concrete platform adjacent to the monopole within the secured compound.
  • Ancillary equipment including antenna mounts, feeders, cabling, combiners and other associated equipment.

A consultation plan created on March 28 this year and published to the RFNSA website refers several times to an ‘existing 40 metre monopole’ however at time of print the 40-metre monopole was not yet visible at the Gould Hill Road site.

According to the consultation plan, a search of the area determined there were no ‘community sensitive locations’ within 300 metres of the site.

The submission of the ‘Final Community Consultation Report’ to council is set for May 6.

Submissions can be made by 5pm May 1 using reference number 4285036 via TPG.Submissions@servicestream.com.au or PO Box 14570 Melbourne VIC 8001
