St George’s Camellia High Tea

As the rest of Southeast Queensland cools down, Tamborine Mountain is bursting with a vibrant explosion of colour. The region’s highly anticipated Camellia season has officially begun, turning the mountain’s famous rich volcanic soil and cooler microclimate into a breathtaking paradise for flower enthusiasts and nature lovers alike.

Running from late autumn through the depths of winter, the mountain’s unique high-altitude climate provides the perfect environment for these “queens of the winter garden” – everything from the delicate, early-blooming Camellia sasanquas shattering into soft carpets of petals, to the intricate, long-lasting Camellia japonicas and the massive, hand-span-sized Camellia reticulatas.

It is this prolific plant that St George’s Anglican Church is celebrating this year with a Camellia High Tea. Many folk do not realize that every time we enjoy a hot brew of tea, we are enjoying a genus of camellia – Camellia sinensis (the authentic tea plant.)

This elegant High Tea will take place on Saturday July 25 from 2pm to 4pm at St George’s Church, 2 Dapsang Dr, Tamborine Mountain.

Guests are invited to indulge in a traditional high tea experience, with Premium Leaf Tea provided by Dilmah Australia, and featuring a curation of:

  • Delicate finger sandwiches with classic fillings.
  • Buttery baked scones with jam and cream.
  • An array of intricate, hand-crafted petite cakes and sweets

Beyond the indulgence of tea and cake, the Camellia High Tea is a community-focused event.

We are pleased to announce that the afternoon will also feature a silent auction.

We extend our sincerest gratitude to the local Tamborine Mountain businesses that have generously donated a diverse collection of unique items and experiences.

The auction offers attendees a chance to take home exceptional treasures while supporting both the event and the vibrant local business community. Their support underscores the collaborative spirit that makes Tamborine Mountain such a special place.

Tickets must be pre-booked. Bookings are available online through Humanitix.
