Beechmont State School students put their athletic skills to the test across two action-packed days at the school’s annual athletics carnival on June 18 and June 25.
The carnival saw students compete in a range of track and field events after spending the term preparing during physical education lessons.
Principal Rachelle Connor said the athletics carnival was one of the most anticipated events on the school calendar and provided opportunities for students to challenge themselves outside the classroom.
“The Athletics Carnival is one of the most important events on the Beechmont State School calendar,” she said.
“Students spend the entire term preparing for the various events during their Physical Education lessons, building not only their athletic skills but also their confidence, perseverance and sportsmanship.”
Mrs Connor said the event allowed students to celebrate personal achievement while fostering teamwork and school spirit.
She said strong support from families helped create a positive atmosphere throughout both days of competition.
“Our families are incredibly supportive of this event, and each year we are fortunate to have a wonderful turnout of parents and carers who come along to cheer on and encourage all students,” she said.
“Their presence helps create a positive and exciting atmosphere that makes the day even more special for our children.”
Mrs Connor also acknowledged the efforts of staff and volunteers in ensuring the carnival ran smoothly.
“The success of the carnival is a testament to the dedication of our staff and volunteers,” she said.
“Every staff member plays an active role, from setting up and packing down equipment to running events, recording results and supporting students throughout the day.”
She paid special tribute to Physical Education teacher Ms Smith for her work coordinating the event.
As a former Physical Education teacher herself, Mrs Connor said the carnival remained one of her favourite school events.
“There is nothing better than seeing our students challenge themselves, demonstrate resilience and shine in a different arena while being supported by such a wonderful school community,” she said.
