THE Scenic Rim’s second Pride march drew a small but dedicated group of supporters
Organiser Nova McLean said she wanted to provide a safe space for members of the LGBTIQ+ community.
“I want to raise awareness so that people like me can make friends and talk about our experiences,” she said.
Allies of the LGBTIQ+ community were welcome at the march and included local DJ, Mal Jobson, who provided music for the march.
“I DJ in the LGBTIQ+ community and I’ve got a lot of friends in that community,” he said.
“In creating awareness we are creating hope for our community. We had the referendum on same sex marriage and same sex couples can marry legally in this country. I think in Beaudesert we are on the cusp of coming of age on this issue. We need to be more inclusive.”
