The Scenic Rim Regional Council started the Scenic Rim One Million Trees Initiative under their environmental program with the goal of planting one million trees across the region by 2025.

This program provides native trees to Scenic Rim residents, community groups, rural landholders and schools.

The aim is to address issues of biodiversity loss by encouraging sustainable land practices, the restoration of waterways and beautification of the region.

Planting one million trees has the ability to significantly improve the landscape, enhancing our region’s scenery and natural environment and creating a lasting legacy.

One Million Trees for the Scenic Rim is split into four initiatives to apply towards specific parts of the community.

This includes the Rural Trees Initiative, River Trees Initiative, Habitat Trees Initiative, and Community Trees Initiative.

Rural Trees is applicable for scenic rim rural landowners who own properties one hectare and greater.

River Trees is open to scenic rim landowners whose properties control or border waterways.

Habitat Trees applies to landowners who are part of Council’s Habitat Protection Program through their participation in Land for Wildlife, Voluntary Conservation Agreements and Nature Refuges.

Community Trees encourages all community groups, including sporting groups, clubs, and schools of Scenic Rim to support the project.
