MANY of us can reflect on career defining moments in our lives.

When Beaudesert Hospital midwife, Sheree Mitchell, sits back in years to come to reminisce on her life as a nurse she will now doubt remember September, 2024.

Sheree began her career at Beaudesert Hospital in 2014 after graduating with a Bachelor of Midwifery from Southern Cross University.

While a decade has passed, in her time at the hospital it wasn’t until last month that she delivered her first babies as a lead carer under low risk birthing protocols.

It was a double reason to celebrate as the babies were the 99th and 100th to be born at Beaudesert Hospital since low-risk birthing services were re-introduced earlier this year.

Low Risk births as classified when there are no active complications and when there are no maternal or fetal factors that place the pregnancy at increased risk of complications.

Midwives are the lead carer for low-risk women.
