Mitzie the 6-year-old kelpie cattle dog cross could fetch a ball all day. She’s a wonderful companion for Christmas Creek’s Dinah Buchanan, who is 90 years old. Dinah’s family gave her Mitzie as a puppy, and Dinah’s great grandchildren love playing with Mitzie when they come to visit.
Here’s what Dinah has to say about Mitzie: “Mitzie knows when morning tea and lunch is and waits at the back door. To get her treats, she must have brought her ball up to show me,” she said. “If she has not, I ask her ‘have you forgotten something?’ and she races back downstairs to get the ball, drops it in front of me on the floor and sits.”
