A free Marketing for Small Business Workshop, hosted by the Beaudesert Chamber of Commerce, brought together the expertise of several local businesses.

Speakers from local businesses included Keer Moriarty from Beaudesert Bulletin, Eden Platell from Branded Design Studio, Jackie Keys from Technology Rocks, Linda Mahaffy from Scenic Rim Information and Events Facebook page and Jacqui Stephan from Our Little Shop.

Event organiser, Keer Moriarty, said the event aimed to support small businesses with information about marketing to the local community and beyond.

“A lot of people running small businesses in Beaudesert are trying to do everything – from marketing to accounting as well as running their business,” she said.

“We wanted to give people an insight into some tips and tricks to make their marketing more effective.”

The Workshop was open to all businesses and provided information about creating a marketing mix and budget; branding; social media; websites; google reviews and using community pages to promote your business.

The last speaker, Jacqui Stephan, provided an overview of her marketing journey with Our Little Shop, which opened in 2021.

Jacqui said at first she didn’t think she would need marketing, being a long term local who knew a lot of people in town.

“I soon saw how wrong I was!” she said.

She found marketing Our Little Shop via the Beaudesert Bulletin and social media was most effective for her.  She still monitors and adjusts her marketing to suit her budget and demographic.

Beaudesert Chamber of Commerce is looking to expand membership amongst smaller businesses.

“The Chamber has recently formed a Marketing Sub-Committee which aims to hold more events for members,” said Keer.
