Locals will frock up and have a special afternoon to support women in need locally and abroad when Beaudesert Zonta hosts its Spring Fashion Parade and High Tea in a local country garden.

Tickets are limited and must be pre-purchased for the event, which is from 2pm to 5pm Saturday, 24 September at 36 Brolga Road Beaudesert.

Guests will be treated to fashions by Kalico Country and Our Little Shop and might also get to see ‘Just Be It’ creations by local fashion designer and maker Erica Bates, whose is having the event in her garden.

The tables will be laden with mouth-watering homemade cakes and savouries baked by Zonta volunteers and there will be plenty of raffle prizes to be won.

Wendy Preo, one of the volunteers organising the event, said money raised at the high tea went to making a significant difference in the lives of women.

“This is one of our main fundraisers for the Zonta Club of Beaudesert, because we do a lot of work with women in need, so this fundraiser gives us the ability to do that,” she said.

“To see women, and men if they want to come, enjoying themselves at our high tea, enjoying the fashions and knowing they’ve given their money to a good cause is wonderful.

“It goes towards helping women who are escaping domestic violence, packages for women facing homelessness, breast care cushions for people who’ve had breast cancer operations, food packages and care packages, birthing kits to send overseas, dignity packages and at the moment we’re looking at working with the high school to help students who don’t have the opportunities or funds for a lot of the things they need at school.

“We do a lot on the quiet to help the community, and this is our main fundraiser to help us do that.”

Tickets are $30 and include high tea and the first class of bubbly or punch.

To buy tickets visit Kalico Country or pay by bank transfer to Zonta Club of Beaudesert BSB: 084 536, account number 396 365064 with your name as the reference, then contact Denise Martin on 0419 348 466.
