THE latest round of the Gambling Community Benefit Fund has provided good news for two district organisations.

Scenic Rim Writers won $7,291 towards writing and producing a book, while the Beaudesert Community Arts and Information Centre received $15,000 towards much needed roof repairs.

Scenic Rim Writers member Bernadette McCabe said the book, named A Sense of Place:  Stories from the Scenic Rim will be a collection of short stories from local writers.

The group, which was first formed in 2015, has produced three previous books – The Word on the Street; Mystery, Murder and Mayhem and War Stories and Our Town.

Scenic Rim Writers and Beaudesert Community Arts and Information Centre join hundreds of community groups to receive a share of $16m under the latest round of the fund.

The Gambling Community Benefit Fund (GCBF) has approved more than 67,800 funding applications and distributed more than $1.158 billion in community grants since it was established in 1994.

A charity supporting young women with breast cancer, a wheelchair rugby league team, homelessness services and an Indigenous corporation helping victims of domestic violence have all received grants of $35,000 from the latest round.

For those local not-for-profit organisations that missed out or would like to apply for a grant, round 120 is now open.

They can apply for a grant of up to $35,000.
