DID you know the Beaudesert Bulletin is a small businesses funded by advertising?
For those in the know about newspapers this fact shouldn’t come as a surprise, but as we round out 2025 Small Business Month, I thought I’d take the opportunity to share a bit about us as a business.
You might have heard the saying, ‘when you buy from a small business, an actual person does a little happy dance’.
That is 100 per cent true every time somebody advertises with us at the Beaudesert Bulletin, and the same goes for our sister publications the Tamborine Mountain News and the Canungra Times.
Our advertisers get incredible reach through the 4500 printed copies of the Bulletin distributed every fortnight, and some go even further by advertising across all three publications.
Their advertising dollars help us share more of the stories which matter so much to our community, because the amount of advertising in our newspapers directly determines how many pages of stories and photos you see.
Publishing newspapers costs money and based on the positive feedback from our readership and advertisers I believe it is money well spent.
As a journalist who is not from a sales background, I never expected I would see such beauty in the symbiotic relationship between local advertising and local stories in a community newspaper.
But attending several events with like-minded people this Small Business Month reminded me people really do want to see our business community thrive, and that includes us as a newspaper.
I particularly commend the Beaudesert Chamber of Commerce for its Progressive Networking Evening which my Managing Editor Keer Moriarty described as the best event the Chamber has ever run (and I tend to agree).
