Nominations are open for the next generation of local young leaders to step forward as the 2026 Beaudesert Show Ambassadors.

The Beaudesert Show Society is calling for nominations in the categories of Rural Ambassador (men and women aged 20 to 30), Showgirl (young women 18 to 28) and Junior Ambassador (young men and women 12 to 17).

The ambassador program recognises passionate young people who represent the heart of the Beaudesert district and the future of the agricultural show movement.

Beaudesert Show Society Ambassador Coordinator Tim Andrews said it was about more than a sash or title.

“Becoming a Beaudesert Show Ambassador is a wonderful opportunity for young people to build confidence, develop leadership skills, make lifelong connections and proudly represent their local community,” he said.

“Our ambassadors become important voices for the Show and for rural communities. They help celebrate the traditions of the show movement while also encouraging the next generation to get involved.”

The ambassador program has long been an important part of the Beaudesert Show, giving local entrants the chance to grow personally while developing their public speaking, presentation and community engagement skills.

Ambassadors are chosen for their knowledge, confidence, presentation, passion for the agricultural show movement and commitment to their community.

The local competition also opens the door to opportunities. Winners can go on to represent Beaudesert at Sub-Chamber finals, with successful entrants then progressing to Queensland State Finals.

Queensland Ag Shows describes the Rural Ambassador Awards as its leading rural and agricultural leadership program for young men and women, while the Queensland Country Life Showgirl Awards aim to recognise and develop young female leaders in communities across the state.

For Beaudesert, the program is also about strengthening community ties and celebrating the young people who give so much back to the district.

The Society’s 2025 ambassador announcement highlighted the strength of that tradition, naming Sally Rodwell as Rural Ambassador, Poppy Todd as Showgirl and Delilah Brook as Junior Show Ambassador.

The three have proudly represented the Beaudesert Show Society over the past year and continue to reflect the enthusiasm, leadership and community spirit that the program is designed to foster.

Ms Rodwell, the 2026 South East Sub-Chamber Rural Ambassador & 2025 Rural Ambassador, reflected on her title.

“This experience has been such a wonderful opportunity to represent Beaudesert and give back to a community I care deeply about. Along the way, I’ve met inspiring people, listened to their stories, and gained a greater understanding of both the challenges and strengths within our region. It has helped me grow in confidence, build lasting friendships, and create memories I will always treasure,” she said.

Poppy Todd, the 2026 South East Sub-Chamber Showgirl & 2025 Showgirl, said the experience opened doors.

“Becoming more involved in the Agricultural Show Movement during my time as Beaudesert Showgirl has been both an honour and a privilege. Already, I have learnt so much about the people, communities and traditions that allow our shows to thrive, and I am thrilled to represent the rich heritage and ongoing strength of our South East Region at this year’s Ekka,” she said.

Delilah Brook, the 2025 Junior Ambassador, said it was an invaluable learning experience.

“Being a Junior Show Ambassador was an incredible experience that taught me valuable skills in communication, leadership and teamwork,” she said.

“I had the opportunity to welcome visitors, assist with event activities, and represent the Show with pride and enthusiasm.

“It was rewarding to see the smiles on people’s faces as I helped make their experience enjoyable. This role also boosted my confidence. Overall, it was a memorable and enriching experience that I’m proud to have been part of.”

The Beaudesert Show Society is encouraging anyone with a love of community, agriculture and the local show tradition to consider nominating or to encourage a young person they know to take part.

“Nominations are a chance for young people to challenge themselves, meet new people and become part of something very special in our community,” Mr Andrews said.

“We know there are outstanding young people across our district, and we would love to see them step forward for 2026.”

Judging for the 2026 Beaudesert Show Ambassadors will be held on July 11, with the successful ambassadors to be officially announced on July 18.
