Experience the adventure of mountain expeditions at the Scenic Rim Adventure Festival at Mt Barney Lodge, from 29 April to 2 May 2022.
Unlike the typical festival with hordes of people, this is an opportunity to rediscover nature and challenge yourself physically, if you choose to do so.
“It is something our minds and bodies are craving during this tumultuous time,” said Festival Director and owner of Mt Barney Lodge, Innes Larkin.
“We want to share this special place and make a difference to people’s lives to be inspired and get back to the important things in life, spending time with each other, and nature.”
The Scenic Rim Adventure Festival will feature half and full day guided expeditions, walks, talks and wild adventures from the base camp of Mt Barney Lodge.
Pre-booking is necessary as places are limited and guided expeditions are not included in the festival pass.
The expeditions require an advanced level of fitness and climbing experience.
Visitors to the festival can enjoy survival skill workshops, an adventure film festival and internationally renowned guest speakers, sharing their experiences of challenges, inner strength, resilience, and survival.
The list of inspiring speakers include the youngest person in history to run an Ultra Marathon on all seven continents, Jacqui Bell; an ecologist studying the impacts of climate change and bushfires on the Gondwana Rainforests of Australia World Heritage Area, Dr Melinda Laidlaw; and daring Aussie Polar explorer, Geoff Wilson.
The comprehensive adventure program will include live music, food, adventure displays and children’s nature play activities, guided bushwalks, bushcraft and survival activities and epic guided mountain expeditions to the top of Queensland’s most impressive peak.
