Beaudesert Kingfishers hosted the RLGC Junior Grand Finals at RS Willis Park, with the Kingfishers U18 Division 2 team taking out their Final in front of an enthusiastic home crowd.
The first try of the game against Burleigh Bears went to Kingfishers’ Harry Devine, with Thor Barnes and Dylan Haack achieving their own tries in the first half.
Jim McClure converted the first and third goals, but Burleigh bounced back in the latter part of the first half with two tries, followed by a penalty, giving a half time score of 16-10.
Cooper Lewis was sent for 10 minutes in the bin.
Burleigh scored the first try of the second half to make the score 16-14.
Beaudesert hit back straight away with Harry Devine scoring in the corner.
This try was converted by Luke Bostock to make the score 22-14.
Burleigh scored the next try, which was converted to keep the crowd on the edge of their seats with a score of 22-20.
Cooper Lewis scored from dummy half and Luke converted this try as well.
Zac Frazer scored after a strip to bring the final score to a solid Kingfishers win of 32-20.
The match finished off a great day of rugby league at the Kingfishers’ home ground.
