Thousands of people from Beaudesert and beyond will come together to celebrate, learn and show their support at the 2026 Mununjali NAIDOC Day.

Mununjali Housing and Development Company will host the annual event on July 4 at Jubilee Park, starting with a 9am opening ceremony.

Celebrations will feature live music, dance performances and free family-friendly activities and attractions including face painting, jumping castles, a reptile show, Nana Magic and, for the first time, a silent disco.

This year’s theme is 50 Years of Deadly, marking a significant milestone for the movement which celebrates Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture and achievements.

Organiser Robbie Antcliff said Mununjali NAIDOC Day had gone from strength to strength.

“Reflecting on past celebrations highlights just how far the community has come,” she said.

“What began as a small gathering with a sausage sizzle and dance performances for parents has grown into one of the region’s most anticipated community events.

“Looking back at those early days and seeing where we are now, it is incredible to see how much we have grown as both an organisation and a community.”

Ms Antcliff said NAIDOC provided an opportunity to proudly share culture with the wider community.

“It is so important and meaningful for our people to celebrate on Mununjali country,” she said.

“One of the highlights each year is seeing the jarjums (children) embrace their identity with pride whether they are performing on stage, participating in activities or simply enjoying the day’s festivities.

“The joy on the children’s faces and the pride they have in their culture is what makes this day so special.”

She said everyone was invited to come and enjoy a day of culture, connection and community.
