Kerry Memorial Hall has issued a call for donations to its Dignity Bag Packaging Day to be held on Sunday 23 July.
“We are inviting anyone interested in helping to come along that day and donate items appropriate for putting into a bag for women in need,” said Kerry Hall Sub Committee member and event organiser Mary Rohan.
“In addition to bringing items on the day, donors can also leave them prior to this in a dedicated bin located at the pedestrian gate.”
Items appropriate for the dignity bags include toothpaste, toothbrushes, shampoo, conditioner, body lotion, sanitary products, soap, deodorants, wipes, sanitizers, tissues and hair combs. All items must be brand new, unopened and individually packaged.
“Special gifts such as socks, coin purse, hair tie, and towel would also be most appreciated,” said Mary.
The day which begins at 2pm is a BYO drinks and nibbles occasion, with tea and coffee available. It will offer a chance to meet and socialise, as well as help those in need.
A highlight of the day will be the attendance of Shayne Probert who will speak as a supporter of Defenders for Hope, a registered not-for-profit organisation that helps victims of domestic violence, including the provision of support packs.
