Swearing In

Since being sworn into the new Council last month, (an amazing life moment!), I have greatly enjoyed the experience of working with the new team, to help represent our communities and the region as a whole. I am quite excited to be a part of this team, for the chance to work with them in this new positive and uplifting environment (yes, these are my words!).

Anzac Day Ceremonies

As a newly elected Councillor, it was a wonderful privilege to be able to represent our Council at six of this year’s 25 Anzac Day ceremonies in the region.

In the lead up to Anzac Day, a great honour was to be had attending ceremonies at Veresdale Scrub State School, Gleneagle State School, Tamborine Mountain State School, and Tamborine Mountain State High School. Very special moments to see students upholding the Anzac spirit and honouring the legacy of our incredible service men and women.

Many ceremonies saw record numbers of attendance – including Tamborine’s Dawn Service and Beaudesert’s Anzac Parade where I was able to join communities to lay wreaths in tribute of those who have or are serving, and those who have fallen. Community commemorations at Tamborine Mountain also saw new attendance records honouring those who have helped to keep us safe. Lest we forget.

Eat Local Month

A delicious event recently attended, was the launch of Scenic Rim’s Eat Local Month to showcase this year’s ‘authentic paddock-to-plate food and farming event program’ as a celebration of our region’s farmers, growers, producers, artisans, chefs, and quality food and beverages.

This year’s program is jam-packed with more than 120 events from 1 to 30 June, culminating in the Winter Harvest Festival – to be held for the first time at Kalbar! I encourage a quick download of a copy of the Eat Local Month program from the eatlocalmonth.com.au website to plan your ‘foodie adventure of the year’ in this, our amazing region!

Moving Forward

I’m very excited for the chance to work with the team – and to listen to very important feedback from our community to deliver the budget. So, I would like to urge everyone to have their say in the following months, and to please also contact me with any queries or concerns which may come to light as we move forward along this positive journey together.

It is an honour to have been elected to serve the Scenic Rim and I thank everyone for your support – both then and now! We live in a most amazing part of the country – and the world! “Go Scenic Rim!”
