Happy New Year
I wish you all a very happy, healthy and safe New Year.
For many in the region, the start of 2024 has been very difficult with the impacts from the severe storm on Christmas night.
Thank you to those who have worked so hard to assist during this time.
Thank you
As I have announced my retirement from Council following the end of this term in March, I would like to express my gratitude to many people.
It has been an honour to represent my community for the past eight years and I thank our residents for this honour.
It has been a privilege to have worked with the Mayor, Greg Christensen, over the past eight years.
His leadership has always been strong, with high integrity and strategic focus.
Our region is now reaping the benefits and the recognition.
While the Mayor and Councillors set the direction of Council, it is the Council employees who are responsible for delivering hundreds of projects each year.
These Council employees are the heroes of the organisation.
Each day our dedicated workforce, through all levels of the organisation, bring their passion, skills and commitment to deliver amazing outcomes for our community. Thank you!
Thank you to the hundreds of volunteers and amazing community groups who give of their time and talents to make our communities stronger, healthier and happier.
I have valued the opportunity to develop a much deeper understanding of the culture of our First Nations People and sincerely thank our Mununjali people for this privilege, and for keeping your rich culture alive in our community.
As Chair of the Scenic Rim Arts Reference Group since 2020, I have gained a greater appreciation of the Arts community, and the important role that Art plays in our region. It has been a treasured experience for me. Thank you!
Thank you to all who supported me during this time.
I have no greater supporter than my wife, Jen, who has been my constant through these eight years. Thank you Dear!
It’s time to start a new chapter and enjoy the journey ahead.
Cr Michael Enright, Division 4 Councillor
