BEAUDESERT State High School (BSHS) held their first Appreciation Breakfast on October 14 to commemorate local businesses for their outstanding support and connection to the school.
The morning kicked off in the multipurpose court with guests mingling and enjoying a musical performance by BSHS students Hayden Griffin and Eliza Johns.
After the breakfast buffet, Principal Damien Burke welcomed the guests.
“An opportunity to have so many local businesses represented today reinforces the pride that the community has in Beaudesert and the wider Scenic Rim,” he said.
“I would like to thank each and every one of you on behalf of the school.”
Event Coordinator Bel Brown said BSHS’s inaugural Appreciation Breakfast was a way to give back to businesses that have partnered with the school.
“The morning has been set up to thank and appreciate the businesses within Beaudesert and beyond, and the community members for helping our students with their school-based traineeships, apprenticeships and work experience,” she said.
“Within the school, we’re always seeing those gaps and we always want to be able to prepare our students to be a good fit for our businesses.”
Due to a kind donation from Beaudesert Chamber of Commerce, Bel thought it was important to combine the breakfast with a business forum as well.
“Today’s business forum is about learning the different generations, but also, how can we all work together and how can the school prepare our students to fit with these businesses,” she said.
“We’ve got a panel of four brilliant people from all walks of life – Sally Abdilla, Alan Abbott, Ness Parry and Damien Burke.”
Both Bel and Damien hope this event will be the start to many more in the future.
“It’s a wonderful opportunity for the businesses in town to get to known each other and get to know the school,” Bel said.
“It’s also another way for us to cement those partnerships and make sure that they stay with us, and that we’re working together.”
