Beaudesert Country Women’s Association (CWA) hosted their 97th Annual General Meeting (AGM) on July 25 to celebrate a year’s worth of accomplishments and their incoming committee for 2025.

The Centre was warm and welcoming with the CWA branch members from Beaudesert, Coomera, Wonglepong and Beenleigh all engaged in small talk with a cuppa and homemade sweet treats.

Visitors were welcomed by the beautiful, bright faces of Thelma Evans and Rosemary Ryan, who were organising raffles.

Some special guests who attended on the day were guest Chairman Michael Enright and his wife Jenny, Returning Officer Thea Franklin and Guest Speaker Defenders for Hope co-founder Tomeeka Smith.

The meeting commenced off with the National Anthem, CWA Motto and Creed, Acknowledgement of Country and a moment of silence for past members they have lost.

President Linda Lynch shared some inspiring words and congratulated Beaudesert CWA for another successful year.

“My first year as President has been challenging at times, but with the support and friendship from members, we made it through together as a team,” she said.

“I am quite amazed at the amount Beaudesert QCWA has achieved and I wish to thank each and every one of our members for your loyal support – together, we can achieve so much.”

Returning Officer Thea Franklin announced the incoming committee to be Linda Lynch remaining as President, Penny Sherrin and Dinah Buchanan as Vice Presidents, Charmaine Lamond as Treasurer, Rosemary Ryan as Secretary, Beverly Fehlberg as Social Media Admin and Hall Convenor, and finally, Bernadine Grodecki as Media Officer.

To conclude the meeting, Linda offered donations to local Chaplain Don Morgan, Tomeeka, and Wongaburra residents in the hope that the supplies can help support those who need it.

After the closure of the meeting, guests were encouraged to stay and enjoy lunch with an array of homemade soups to choose from.

“Anyone is quite welcome to come along on a Monday or Thursday from 9am until 11.30am – just come for a cuppa and see what we do and whether you’d like to become a member,” Linda said.
