The Kingfishers Seniors teams came out fighting in their first games of the season. Both the Men’s and Women’s teams displayed great skill and determination against the opposing teams. The Beaudesert Cricket Level 3A team finished their season undefeated and finished premiers of the Logan District Junior Cricket competition. Coach Jason Condrick says the team’s performance this season was a testament to how hard they trained all season. “Everyone in the team worked on their batting and bowling, and you can see how it all came together on the field,” he said. “The wins don’t just come easily. It was from consistent hard work and competing for one another.” In their final match of the season, Beaudesert defeated the Beenleigh Pirates by 12 runs with standout players, Coltyn Spens-Black retiring not out with 20 runs off 26 balls which included two 4s and a 6 and Ty Oppermann retiring not out with 18 runs off 22 balls and hitting three 4s. Beaudesert Cricket President, Leigh Morgan, said the team is littered with talent and a number of players have been chosen for representative teams. “This is the second year in a row that 3A have won the Post-Christmas competition and the team and player performances have been noticed by representative teams,” she said. James McClure and Luke Bostock have both been trying out for the Lord Taverners competition throughout the season. The team is also filled with South East Queensland representative players including Kye Condrick, Clancy Hardy, Isabelle Hardy, Robert McClure and Sebastian Potts. Throughout the post- Christmas season, Jason Condrick said that Luke Bostock was a stand out player. “Luke had a fantastic season and racked up 210 runs for himself,” he said. “Once again, hard work on and off the field can probably attribute to that kind of performance.” With the cricket season coming to a close, Leigh Morgan says she’s proud of the effort all the teams put in. “The club cannot function without the volunteers from coaches to groundsman. I’d like to thank them all for their hard work throughout the season,” she said. “And well done to all the players who competed throughout another great cricket season.”
