A young Tamrookum State School student has had his artwork selected from over 1,400 entries to feature in the Queenlsand Government’s 2024 Farm Safety calendar.
Craig Servin from Workplace Health and Safety presented Prep student Carter Payne with $250 for being one of the 12 students from around Queensland whose artwork was selected.
Tamrookum State School also received $500.
The free calendar is produced each year and features artwork from Queensland children depicting key farm safety messages.
Carter’s artwork had the message ‘wear a helmet’ with a vibrant drawing of a person riding a quad bike on a farm.
Carter’s drawing is the artwork for the month of March in the calendar.
Craig thanked all of the students who did entries for the calendar and presented certificates and calendars to each of them.
Acting Principal Leah Johns said she was very proud of the students for putting effort into their artwork.
“It is wonderful for a small school like Tamrookum to have a student’s artwork featured in the Farm Safety calendar.”
Twelve winners from across the state were selected to feature in next year’s calendar, with students from prep to year six recognised for their exceptional efforts drawing attention to safety on the farm.
Around 30,000 calendars were distributed state-wide in 2023, and since the competition’s commencement in 2015, well over 11,000 submissions have been received.
