Tamrookum Hall will be restored to its former glory just in time for the seventieth anniversary celebrations.

Hall President Lani Deeran said the Committee has secured over $120,000 in grants, which has enabled significant work to be done.

Recently the FRRR’s Tackling Tough Times Together Grant provided $41,816 for an accessible toilet, new ladies and men’s toilets.

Ms Deeran said the men’s toilets had always been outside the hall, these have been retained but additional toilets added in the hall building.

The building work has all been carried out by local trades people, from plumbers to flooring, builders and painters.

Miss and Mrs Tamrookum Hall

An important part of the history of the hall has been the tradition of Miss and Mrs Tamrookum.

Unfortunately some of the records of who held these titles have been lost.

Jane Thomas would like to hear from anyone who knows the identities of Mrs Tamrookum 1984 and Miss Tamrookum 1971 and 2001.

“We are only missing three out of 87 – there were 51 Miss and 36 Mrs,” Ms Deeran said.

If you have any information about the missing ladies, please contact Jane on 0438 442 135.
