What Susie Saw – Hot air balloons

Hot air balloons over Beaudesert
Hot air balloons over Beaudesert

Here’s a hot air balloon rising over a crisp autumn morning in Beaudesert. I’ve never been up in a hot air balloon, and I suppose that makes them seem especially magical to me. It’s pretty dreamy to look up at the sky and imagine what people are doing up there. Are they ticking an item off their bucket list? Did they just get engaged? What’s their story? On mornings when we see six balloons, I imagine Beaudesert is like Australia’s tiny answer to Turkey’s iconic hot air ballooning destination, Cappadocia. Except they get hundreds of thousands of tourists enjoying hot air balloon tours over their region. I don’t think we’ll ever be quite that popular, however I did notice a buzz around town over the three long weekends we just had. We do live in a beautiful part of the world, after all.
