Locals are being encouraged to take a night off from cooking and get some Christmas shopping done at the inaugural Kerry Memorial Hall Twilight Markets on 26 November.
The event, from 3pm to 8pm, will be to celebrate the 76th anniversary of the iconic hall.
There will be live music, stalls and food trucks and the event will be licensed for marketgoers to enjoy a few sunset drinks.
Mary Rohan from the hall committee said they were hoping for a well-attended community celebration of their beloved hall, which was built in 1946 by the local farming community.
She said the twilight markets were something new, with the anniversary previously having been celebrated with a dance.
Mary, who has been attending Kerry Memorial Hall dances since she was young and met her husband Peter at one in 1970, said new volunteers were needed for dances to resume.
“Unless we can get volunteers, we probably won’t be able to resume the dances so we’re trying very hard to make sure we have lots of community events,” she said.
“Our recent R U OK breakfast was very successful, and we hope to make the twilight markets an annual thing for the hall’s anniversary.”
