A local Junior Youth Group has raised $450 for the Land of Hope Orphanage in Nigeria as part of their service component through a bake sale held outside the Tamborine Mountain IGA.
The youth group members spent time baking a delicious assortment of homemade treats, including cake pops, Serbian croissants, cup cakes, rocky road, and freshly squeezed lemonade.
Their hard work paid off as shoppers stopped by throughout the day to purchase the tasty goodies and support a worthy cause.
The bake sale received an overwhelmingly positive response from the community, with many people generously donating and offering words of encouragement to the young fundraisers.
Thanks to this wonderful support, the group exceeded their expectations and raised a total of $450, which will go directly towards helping children at the Land of Hope Orphanage.
Members of the Junior Youth Group expressed their gratitude to everyone who stopped by, made a purchase, or contributed to the fundraiser.
“This was a wonderful example of what can be achieved when young people and the community come together to help others,” Youth Group animator, Maha Shahidinejad, said.
“We are incredibly thankful for the kindness and generosity shown by everyone who supported us.”
She said the Junior Youth Group hopes their fundraiser not only provides practical assistance to children in need but also inspires others to find simple ways to make a positive difference in the lives of others.
“A heartfelt thank you goes to every community member whose support made the day such a great success.”
