VOTERS in Scenic Rim will have at least five candidates to choose from at the state election on October 26.
Before official nominations opened, known candidates were incumbent Jon Krause (Liberal National), Louise Austin (Family First), Shireen Casey (Labour), Nicole Thompson (Greens) and Wayne Ziebarth (One Nation).
Candidate nominations were set to open on October 2, after this edition of the Beaudesert Bulletin went to print.
The state seat of Scenic Rim was created in 2017 and replaces the seat of Beaudesert, which was created in 1992.
Krause has held the seat, which is considered an LNP safe seat, since 2012 and has been re-elected three times.
In 2015 he had 47.47 per cent of the vote, in 2017 he had 41.02 per cent of the vote and in 2020 he had 47.47% of the vote.
Early voting will open from October 14 to October 25 from 8am to 6pm, excluding the weekend.
In the Scenic Rim, early voting centres will be at the Returning Office, 6 William Street, Beaudesert, Vonda Youngman Centre, 2-4 Knoll Road North Tamborine and Boonah Cultural Centre, 3 High Street Boonah.
Postal vote applications close at 7pm October 14, with a return deadline of November 5.
