BEAUDESERT Primary School students from the last 75 years were among more than 50 people who turned up recently for the annual Beaudesert reunion.
Classmates Lloyd Venz, Tony Cash and Graham Day were reunited after their school days in 1950 and enjoyed sharing stories of old times in Beaudesert.
“We don’t tell too many tales because we all know things about each other,” Graham said.
“The young ones today don’t know what fun we used to have.”
The trio spent most of their schooling together before Tony joined the Air Force in 1961.
Although he moved around a lot with the RAAF, Tony eventually came back home to Beaudesert in 1973 where he currently resides.
Lloyd has been in Beaudesert his whole life while Graham regularly returns for the reunions after moving over to Redcliffe.
“I’ve been coming here for 10 or 12 years now. I was born and bred here,” Graham said.
It was the first reunion for Lloyd and Tony and they were delighted to see familiar names on the tags everyone was wearing, although they admitted while the names were familiar, the faces weren’t.
The class of 1948 saw Judy Balmer, Lloyd Winnett and Gail Steindl attending the event.
The all lived near one another during their schooling years.
“I was an only child, so I love to see people get together,” Judy said.
“It’s great to come here every year and catch up with a few people as the mind still remembers. I see a lot of faces, but I don’t know a lot of names,” Lloyd W. said.
The annual event is held at the St Thomas Anglican Church and welcomes anyone who has ever lived, worked or studied in the country town.
The reunion was well with many locals in the mix, all enjoying morning tea provided by the Beaudesert CWA ladies.
