Talented junior squad wants to return to the field
IN 2017 Brenden Frazer proudly took a group of enthusiastic young Beaudesert Kingfishers league players through to an Under 12 grand-final victory.
The same squad under Brenden’s coaching went on to win the Under 15 premiership and then the Under 18 trophy in 2023 when they beat league heavyweights the Burleigh Bears.
According to their coach the team not only bristled with talent it also boasted great comraderie and enthusiasm.
As so often happens in the leap from junior football to the senior ranks most of the players packed away their boots and trophies last year leaving with great memories and the knowledge they had made friends for life.
Now after a year’s break the urge to play football again and to reunite with their team-mates has one of the club’s most successful junior squads ready to run back on the field in Kingfishers colours.
“The players have asked me to coach them again and to enter a team in the Under 20 competition, and while I am delighted there is a major snag to doing it,” Brenden said.
“For us to register a team in the Gold Coast Under 20 competition we need to have a squad of around 25 and at the moment we are eight short.
“Making it even tougher is the fact we have only two weeks to put our player’s names forward.”
The team officially started training this week with Tuesday and Thursday nights at Willis Park at 6.30pm the start time.
“Hopefully the word will get around and more lads will want to join, I’m doing my bit with my two boys Beau and Zac ready to play,” Brenden said.
“Potential players are welcome to just turn up for training and if they want to know more they can ring me on 0412 040 165.”
