LOCALS will be able to explore the gems right on their doorstep when producers from Beaudesert and surrounds host the Scenic Rim Farm Gate Trail on July 28.

Barney Creek Vineyard and Cottages, The Shed Café Rathlogan, Oaky Creek Farm and Harvest Café, Christmas Creek Garlic, The Overflow Estate 1895 and Towri Sheep Cheeses will participate in the region-wide trail.

Across the Scenic Rim farmers, growers, producers, winemakers, brewers, distillers and flavour-makers will open their gates to celebrate where food comes from in the event, organised by local tourism organisation Destination Scenic Rim.

Others participating in the trail include Summer Land Camels, Ellia’s Garden, Naughty Little Kids, Peak Organics, Valley Pride Produce, Scenic Rim Farm Shop, Elderflower Farm, Olive View Estate, Scenic Rim Brewery, Bunjurgen Estate Vineyard, Bee All Natural Honey, O’Reilly’s Canungra Valley Vineyard, Mountview Alpaca Farm, Sarabah Estate Vineyard, Witches Falls Winery, Tamborine Mountain Distillery and Cauldron Distillery.

The event is promoted as an opportunity to learn about where local products come from, from the people who make them, and feel connected with the region.

On July 28 Barney Creek Vineyard and Cottages, which is dog friendly and has views of Mt Barney, will offer wine tastings, walks through the vineyard and the opportunity to browse the gift shop.

The Shed Café – Rathlogan, also in the foothills of Mt Barney up a driveway lined with olive trees, will showcase olive oils, table olives and their home-cooked menu.

Oaky Creek Farm and Harvest Café, which is dog friendly and has views of Innisplain, will offer self-guided farm tours and the opportunity to get seasonal produce and choose from a takeaway menu.

Christmas Creek Garlic will have chemical-free garlic as well as other specialty garlic products.

The Overflow Estate 1895, which is dog friendly, will offer locally produced wines, a menu of chef-cooked food and live music.

Towri Sheep Cheeses, which is dog friendly, will offer takeaway cheese platters to enjoy in the garden, a coffee van, takeaway lunch options and plenty of local products to buy.
