LOCAL cyclist Charles Boyle has warmed up for the Masters National Championships in March with gold and bronze medals at the recent Queensland titles.
Charles, who only took up cycling four years ago, was a member of the University of Queensland team that defended its title as the Team Pursuits champions.
Competing at the Anna Meares Velodrome the championships didn’t begin well for Charles when he accidentally unclipped from his pedal midway through the opening time trial event.
Following the team’s event victory he lined up for the Individual Pursuit and came away with the bronze.
Despite concentrating on the endurance events he entered the Kierin competition making his way into the final where he finished fifth.
