A BATTING partnership between Patrick O’Leary and Max Foster saw Beaudesert’s 2B cricket team take a great win over Kuraby Falcons in a lead up to the Premiership game.
Patrick had a great game, scoring 55 runs, with Max very close behind his batting partner, making 49 runs.
Their innings took a little over an hour to achieve a century partnership.
This was a great start to a solid result for Beaudesert’s 2B team.
Beaudesert eventually made 7/168 with Kuraby trailing with 8/63, making Patrick and Max’s combined century significant.
It was the first time they have scored a century together and the highest runs either of the boys have achieved.
Made up of primarily single runs there were also two sixes and two fours scored.
It was a massive effort for both boys who really enjoyed the game.
“It got pretty fun when I got to really hit the ball,” said Max.
Patrick started playing for Beaudesert Cricket Club three years ago and Max began four years ago.
They enjoy playing for the Club and catching up with their friends when they are playing and training.
Max also wicket keeps
Patrick batted with a bat bought by his mother from a local op shop, something that has turned out to be a lucky purchase.
Premiers
The 2B team won their division’s Premiership in a cracking game against Springwood Suns 2B Scorchers who won the toss and elected to bowl.
Patrick scored 64 not out (retired), Jack Oppermann 58 not out and Max 47 not out (retired).
Darcy Francis and Patrick Overell took two wickets each during the game, with bowlers Nicholas Stephens and Jack Oppermann also taking a wicket each.
The final score was Beaudesert 5/244 and Springwood 6/63.
They have only lost one game all season.
More success
A host of Beaudesert teams had great success this season, with 3A also winning the Premiership.
The Beaudesert Cricket Club’s First 11 lost to Logan Village in the Grand Final at Selwyn Park.
Winning the toss Beaudesert elected to bat first, but Logan Village bowled well, restricting the Beaudesert openers from scoring freely.
