IN 2022 the Australian Heritage Truck Association’s annual show at Rocklea was in serious doubt of going ahead.

Floods had hit the area and their normal venue was declared a no go.

New president, Mark Plunkett put forward the idea of taking the event for the first time to Beaudesert Showgrounds and it was endorsed by his fellow members.

It proved to be a winner and almost 1500 people filed into the Showgrounds to view the much loved heritage trucks which were all more than 30 years old.

With the Rocklea Showgrounds reopened the association returned its annual showcase event back to its home grounds, but the success of the Beaudesert venture was still strong in their member’s minds so they have now decided to return once more to this region.

Saturday and Sunday, October 19 and 20 has been booked for the return and president Mark is confidently predicting the 2025 show will prove to be one of the association’s biggest in its decade long history.

“Already entries have been positive with trucks set to roll in from areas such as Coffs Harbour and Toowoomba,” he said.

“In all we’re hoping to have around 130 heritage trucks on display and we have also invited classic car enthusiasts to register their interest and put their vehicles on show.

“Added to that vintage tractor owners have also been approached to be part of the show, so there will be plenty to look over,” he said.

The show will start with a grand parade through the streets of Beaudesert on Saturday morning October 20 from the top end of Telamon Street, past the pool into Jane Street and then into the Showgrounds.

If you want to be part of the parade who will need to pay a small fee which will go to this year’s nominated charity, Motor Neurone Disease Research.

“We will have trade stalls and food vans on site over the two days and some of these will be manned by local community groups,” Mark said.

“All exhibitors are asked to complete pre-registration forms and provide proof of public liability insurance on arrival.”

There is a small entry fee for those attending the show which the association hopes will fully cover the costs of putting the event on.
